Not my best painting, but it t means a lot to me because it represents the “dawn of a new man” -I'm trying to capture the feelings of fear and joy together as a creative force. This year 2024, brought into our lives one of the biggest changes in our lives. In late July we moved to San José leaving behind a 19-year run of making art and teaching in Indiana. We left behind so many loved family members, friends and students, as well as our home. All these sudden, wild changes have ignited many questions, and with them, an overall raw feeling of openness and new ideas. One of the most beautiful experiences has been meeting people and make new friends... also to be curious about this new city that is becoming our new home. Yesterday, as @nandimarocco and I were walking around the neighborhood, we stumbled upon 3 trees and a plaque where the city of San José de Guadalupe was first founded in 1777. It meant so much to us to feel realeted to those who came from far away to start a new life here (making new roots from the uprooting).
In the past few months I have been preparing my studio and lab at the university to make some new exciting work. More soon! Happy 2025 to everyone! 💓🌈
