The way I see it, this is how a legacy begins.
Designing a space has the potential to be a legacy project, a professional milestone, but most importantly, a community project.
Black beauty, salons, and nail salons were once community staples—a place to foster conversation, connection, and hope. Gone are the days when these spaces were filled with joy and laughter, as we’ve shifted to individual studio spaces.
@curenailhouse is a gentle reminder to bring back the things we love, with the people we love. It’s a love letter to the community that taught us long before we ever entered a classroom.
I’m so excited for this space. Thank you @ofcynn for dreaming up this big idea and for having me design part of your dream. I'm excited for design talks in the space and curating pieces that celebrate craftsmanship. I’m counting down the days until it opens and can’t wait to build a community in the Black beauty capital of Detroit.
