This photo is the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968. I was three years old. My life was forever changed that day, as were the lives of everyone in my country. I haven’t been posting about the ongoing war in Ukraine for a while now, because honestly, I don’t know what else I can say that I haven’t already said. Reposting the news seemed senseless after a while- we can all read it. I wrote an opinion piece published in the @latimes about the emotional damage of occupation. I’ve been contributing to organizations that help the refugees. This is in my own little personal corner- and all I can do. Today is the 54th anniversary of the occupation of my country, and I honestly never thought I’d witness this happening again. And so today I’m taking a moment to stand with Ukraine that keeps bravely fighting their oppressors while the rest of us watch, helpless.
