#AliveSeries - My Alive Series still holds a special place for me as one of my favorite series I have created. It came right after I completed my personal everyday project I set out to do for 365 days. On the final day of creating an image everyday for 365 days I created the first animation here “Vessel”. I create personal work because I love the art of creating. Creating and sharing my personal work completely changed my career. It originally stemmed as a way for me to be more creative outside of client work limitations and slowly turned into clients specifically hiring and trusting in me to give me full creative freedom. This particular series launched a project with me for Nike Air Jordan for an Air Jordan sneaker release. I remember the phone call like yesterday and Nike referencing my art as exactly the way they wanted their air pockets in the Jordan’s to be. Someone on the call pulled up my art not knowing it was me on the call with them. I teach others the importance of fitting in time to do personal work as I have seen first hand what his not only done for my career but how much it has helped me to grow and develop as an artist. I am constantly growing and changing as an artist. I am often asked what my “style” is and I always reply, “I am and artist of phases.” I like to develop overtime and try new styles and completely change directions. I create based on what inspires me and there is always something new. I do not create art for others. I create art for me. When it resonates with others that’s obviously amazing but when it doesn’t I don’t take it to heart because I didn’t create it for anyone but myself any way. Keep creating, keep building and don’t be afraid to change and grow.
