Sometime before the term art hoe was coined on tumblr. @thetenthzine a held photography showcase in a tiny gallery in LES packed with beautiful black & brown gays this was where i first encountered Maurice’s photography work in person. Different from the work of the other artist in the show. I was gripped by This particular portrait of him. I found his essence to be open, naturally dignified, elegantly vulnerable so similar to the flowers which sprouted from the settee. Like, how else could the flowers be? Like, How could they not be themselves? The resonance of that moment sat so deeply within me. It lead to the years later where that moment was found and captured in me. ✨♻️✨ Thank you Maurice. @bloomandplume
