Currently I am rediscovering my visual voice and going through the motions of what it’s like to be a full time artist and what my art / imagery means to the world. I find myself in these potholes and episodes of self doubt and worry of how to move my work forward and create something that is “unique” and inspiring. That seems to be a consistent pressure that all artist face everyday. As I recently had a conversation with a friend pointing out that these times when you feel not inspired and lost in your work are literally the core of being an artist. Especially if you are consistently questioning your work and the audience that it impacts. It’s ok not to be feeling your work and it’s ok to not be inspired to create. We need these times reset our intensions behind what we create. Honestly as frustrating this place seems to be, Im happy to be here. Coming from a different mindset when a few years ago I refused to even call myself an artist. Here I am going through the motions of what it means. During these times I am grateful for my friends for supporting me and occasionally letting me take pictures of them as the ones above, just for fun with no big concept / idea just a subject and camera. A slow rediscovery. 🖤
