📚 I set one very simple goal for this trip: FINISH 1️⃣ book 📖
Vietnam said… let’s try 5️⃣ 😅
This somehow became the first vacation where I actually read every book I packed (I usually have lofty goals and end up watching movies on the plane and sleeping)… and then some. It started with my second @fmcfaddenauthor book, The Housemaid’s Secret, which I flew through after loving the first in the series. I followed it up with Mean Moms — such a fun, fast read.
After our 16-hour flight, my very first stop in Saigon was Book Street 📚… only to realize most of the books are in Vietnamese. After a lot of searching, I found the one bookstore in the entire city with English books and somehow scored the only two Frieda McFadden novels they had: The Coworker and The Boyfriend. One was devoured on our 17-hour train ride the next day, the other a few days later. Both impossible to put down 🫣
By the time we reached Hanoi, I was officially on the hunt again. I checked every bookstore we passed and, in a last-ditch effort before heading to Ha Long Bay, Ryan and I walked 1.5 miles each way to @thebookshelf.hn right before it closed 💛 A super cute English-only bookshop — and they had one Frieda book left: The Teacher. Of course I bought it. The twists had me rereading the final chapter just to make sure I caught everything (and it’s becoming a movie… woohoo 🎬).
I started Lucky Seed on the way home, but between jet lag (Vietnam is 15 hours ahead 😵💫) and real life, it may take a minute to finish — also clearly I need a good book light 💡
I left this trip hoping to get back into reading… and came home fully reading-addicted again. I’ve already ordered The Surrogate and The Tenant, because clearly I love Frieda’s writing style.
📕 Now send me your best book recommendations — what should I read next?
