Sometimes, the best thing we can do is stay on the couch. I went through a terrible string of body aches and flares from fibromyalgia and a few of my chronic conditions. For newbies here: I'm an athlete with multiple disabilities, including PCOS, stage 4 rectovaginal endometriosis, GERD, and mobility issues.
On a positive note, I didn't have to go to the hospital. On a miserable note, I had to stay home, which resulted in me missing my one mile race, a long run, and two days of lifting. After feeling like myself again today, I know this was a wise decision. It is so easy to lead with ego. I watch people ego lift and try to make up missed days by stacking them and those who will overly apologize to others, especially those in fitness communities, if they can't show up. I refuse to be that person any longer, and I haven't been her for since 2020. Apologize for my body having a moment? Absolutely not.
I used my time home to make Jerk Spiced Mahi Mahi in a Citrus Brown Butter Sauce and some Brown Stew Chicken. I took less than 5K steps daily for the last 4 days. And most importantly, I sat down on the vilified couch without guilt as I binge watched "The Bear." You don't need to be chronically ill to respect your sick days, and just like work, you don't need to disclose the details of your personal health.
That was my medal Monday.
