I came to California for the whole month of November for a couple reasons but mainly to train my mom. For the past couple years as our sales have steadily increased I’ve been tossing around the idea with my mom to leave her minimum wage job to help me with Kismet. To give her the flexibility of hours, to work from home, to give her better pay, and most importantly to expand Kismet as a family business. A few months ago she finally recognized that I desperately need the help and was ready to lend a helping hand. These past 4 weeks, maman and I have laughed (and stumbled) through setting up the California lab, learning how to processes orders together, compounded dilutions in bulk, labeling hundreds of sample vials, studied how to use new tools and instruments to make process more efficient, and packed many many orders. As an Iranian immigrant who was a stay at home mom for 20+ years entering the work force, she never had the confidence to compete with people more educated or experienced to get a “high level” job. Watching her over these past few weeks absorb the multifaceted job of perfume production and processing has brought many tears to my eyes. It’s amazing how people excel and build self confidence when given the opportunity to. I would like to introduce the newest member of the Kismet Olfactive logistics team.
