Andrew Dosunmu is one of my unofficial mentors in my head. I seeked him out way back when I heard about Mother of George (2013) and basically ingratiated myself into the production process, helping with extras casting. Was hungry to absorb excellence by osmosis. His style and eye is impeccable—of course paired with Bradford Young (DP) and Mobolaji Dawodu on costume design, it was magic on the screen. I continue to revisit inspiration as I build my own team—people who I want to collaborate with for the rest of my career, however short or long that is...
