If you want some insanely feel good romance set in one of the most beautiful locations in the world (France, so I’m biased 🤷‍♀️), then pick up a copy! Lizzy is just trying to make sure that the events she’s planned at Cannes festival go off without a hitch, but she’s not banking on running into old friend/flame Ciaran, whose own film is one of the most anticipated of the festival. They met as students in Bordeaux twelve years ago, but one night changed everything and they haven’t spoken since. Except now Ciaran needs Lizzy’s help, and maybe twelve days in Cannes is just the ticket (huhum) to get their relationship back on track - if they can just be honest... Aside from the gorgeous, glamorous location and the excitement of the film industry, what really makes this story so special is the relationship between Lizzy and Ciaran - they are both such brilliant characters who bounce off each other really well, and who often had me laughing/swooning. The chemistry was definitely palpable, even when they hated each other! I also loved how real Lizzy felt - a lot of the problems come up because of her own insecurities about her looks, and it was refreshing to have a leading lady depicted as kind of average rather than supermodel stunning, especially when most of us ARE somewhere in between 🤣 The rhetoric in her head felt so familiar and relatable, and I could see how she’d keep letting it mess things up in the face of a super hot film star that everyone fancies. That’s not to say she’s not totally confident in other areas of her life because she’s a total boss with her career and knows it! She’s just a great reflection of real women and I adored her. This is just a perfect summer read (or listen, I can recommend the audiobook too for some sexy Irish accents 😉), and the kind of romance and characters I can’t get enough of.
