Continuing showcasing our ODDA 23 editorial "LIKE SEX, PAPER SELLS AND IS STILL RELEVANT," we spoke to Mohammed Ahmed of @casamagazinesnyc. In 1995 Mohammed Ahmed and his partner Ali opened Casa Magazines, a newsstand located in the West Village, New York. Known in the neighborhood as the “mecca of magazines,” the newsstand is filled to the brim with nearly three thousand tites in its approximately 200 square feet of space. He tells us, "We need publishers and they need us." We also spoke with Romma Alyskewycz of @librairiedupalaisdetokyo. Born from the union between two historical publishing houses, Walther König and Cahiers d’Art, La Librairie du Palais de Tokyo has become one of the most popular bookshops in the city thanks to its wide range of art books and international magazines. In a technological world, they’re boosting the cultural and poetical importance of printed art books. She tells us, "Printed books are not just objects to spread information, but they become mediums and creations themselves."
