Karl Lagerfeld’s collaboration with fashion brands 👀
In 1965, Karl Lagerfeld became the chief fashion designer of the French brand Chloé and began his long-term collaboration with Fendi.
Eighteen years later, in 1983, the designer left the fashion house Chloé and became the creative director of Chanel, where he was invited by the chairman of the company's board of directors, Alain Wertheimer.
He later recalled how friends advised him not to accept the offer: "Everyone told me, 'Don't mess with it, this house is dead and will never rise again.' But even then I understood that it was a test.”
Lagerfeld's choice was confirmed when he showed the first Chanel couture collection, The New York Times journalist Carrie Donovan wrote: "The house of Chanel has just challenged the fashion houses, jeopardizing the rule of Yves Saint Laurent." 🌪️
