I can confirm that Teahupoo is one of the heaviest and scariest waves on the planet. The swell marches in across the open ocean through deep water and crashes into the shallow, sharp reef ledge to create the thickest, widest most powerful barrels I’ve ever seen. The last week was filled with anxiety and I spent about 3 of the 7 days watching and shooting from the safety of the boat. I haven’t been scared in years to surf anywhere and it tripped me out to see some of the best surfers from around the world afraid.
