"Accountability and transparency are better seen by results and not by receipts", said the team at Center for Development in the Cordillera (CDPC) in our final project wrap-up meeting. At the @honnoldfoundation, we couldn't agree more. Far too often, grantmakers assume a position of expertise, authority, and decision-making. They may only fund activities and expenses they think are necessary, rather than giving grantees the freedom and trust they deserve. They assume they know what's best for a community— not the other way around. Ultimately, their trust becomes contingent upon time-consuming financial reporting structures, creating an emphasis on reports and receipts, not results. At HF, we're committed to placing our grantee Partners at the center of our work, including every stage of the grantmaking process. We develop trust-based relationships to make space for minimalistic application and reporting structures, and while our grants are often project-specific, our funding is always unrestricted. We trust our Partners to use their funding where it's needed most. 📸: Part of the 40 kW solar array CDPC installed, powering a 7-acre farm and rice mill to reduce dependency on diesel and bolster access to food for over 1000 people
