I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the time, money and creativity put into the spaces that we live in. - I confess that when I start a project I tend to ask, where can I get the best deal? how to cut corners to speed up the process? Then I take a deep breath and remind myself... The journey is the good part, enjoy the process of meeting new people, learning new things and exploring an idea... I remember that feeling of flow when one idea doesn’t work BUT it leads you somewhere and that you are now closer to the vision that wasn’t there before. It’s a process that in the end creates a better space, one that is honest and reveals subtle nuances that feel truly inspired. I want the end result to be a space where you actually want to spend time and where guests can feel rested and restored. I share this thought in association with these photos of a recent project that was featured in the New York Times about a weekend getaway home for a family in San Francisco. Ben and Rebekah Shaffer found an adorable little community called Pajaro Dunes in Watsonville California and knew that it was the perfect site for their family to enjoy rest and for friends to share meals. You can find a link to the whole story in my bio. Thank you @joefletcherphoto for these beautiful photos and Ben Shaffer for including our work in your inspired home away from home designed by @fuse_architects_builders 🖤
