The making of Enhanced Coanda. What is the Coanda effect? First uncovered by aircraft engineer, Henri Coanda, the phenomenon propels a controlled jet of air at the right speed and pressure to naturally follow an adjacent surface, while entraining surrounding air. We harnessed and miniaturised this in our new Dyson AirwrapTM multi-styler’s barrels, before combining it with our high-pressure V9 motor to allow us to style hair, without the need for extreme heat. Dyson engineers made incremental changes across all attachments to maximise styling output. We localised and multiplied the Coanda effect for increased control.
