I am seeing more and more polarised views in media headlines about menopause. Many people with media influence are voicing anecdotal experiences and opinions which women see as “evidence” and want to follow suit. But it is not the same for everyone. So it gets messy. Its becoming angry and divisive. . Personal anecdotes and media headlines are not “evidence”. That is why experts base recommendations on high quality scientific research; not research in “echo chambers” where you only look at evidence that shows what you “believe”. It has to be impartial, to remove conflicts and biases that can create false conclusions. That is why experts must consider a range of research trial evidence, and not just one study, when formulating recommendations. . The current situation in the U.K. is not good for womens health. It is simply createing confusion, distress, fear and harm to women. . Menopause care should be personalised care. The path that works for you may be different from others. Please don’t force your opinions on others because you think your path will work for everyone. That can cause harm because we are all very different. . Strong views in the face of weak evidence is a barrier to progress. Having compassion and empathy for those in a different situation is the essence of diversity. . #womenshealth #menopause #hormones #diversitymatters #diversityandinclusion #perimenopause #menopausehealth #menopausewellbeing #menopausesupport #menopauserelief #menopausesymptoms #menopauseawareness #menopausematters #menopausehelp
