This is the all-new Sanur Port, which has been in operation since 14 November 2022 for passengers travelling to-and-from Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan on fast boat. The building’s design depicts the mythological Hindu being of Gajah Mina, known to have an elephant’s head and a fish’s tail — here the traditional jukung boat has been added, clearly an homage to the local seafaring fishermen of the island! Passengers will arrive at the port, already with a pre-booked ticket from one of the operating fastboat companies, and can wait inside an air-conditioned waiting room or the balcony terrace, where boarding times for different boats are shown on screens. Then, when its time to board, passengers can walk across the pier to find their boat! Bags in hand, shoes still on, and dry as ever!
