When I was seven years old my family emigrated to the US from India. Books became my window to the world. My daddy would drop my sisters and me off at the library on Saturday mornings. We devoured anything we could read. I sailed across the sea with Columbus, flew with Amelia Earhart, trekked west with Lewis and Clark, fought at the Alamo with Jim Bowie., and ran wild with Misty of Chincoteague. I wept bitterly for Travis and Old Yeller and dreamed of being a writer like Jo in Little Women. Still today, books inspire, motivate, encourage and entertain me. I cannot imagine my life without them. It’s why #BooksToKids is one of my favorite things we do.
