Every. Hair. Matters. Don't believe me? Ask the camera! One of my favorite ways to check my work for shoots is to take videos of the model in natural daylight AND in front of photography lights prior to shooting. What am I checking for exactly? A few things that I can't achieve in perspective-while standing behind the person in my chair or even in a mirror- alone. I'm checking for 1) sculptural balance- does it enhance my models head shape/ features? 2) Fly aways & excess peripheral texture - particularly around the face and crown. 3) Product application - this is especially relevant for me personally with BLONDES and curly/ coily textures. Is the dimension in my models color evenly & attractively placed? And is there visible product build-up? Does it capture light or reflect it? Is there any dullness in curls/coils that need attention. And 4) HOW does my model seem to feel in front of my phone? Are they confidently posed? Do they feel attractive? I know this may not seem like an immediate concern as a beauty professional- but if you want killer images- you need your model to be inclusive of the vibe and feel good. 💗
