Even though #hurricaneharvey was nearly 5 years ago, the effects of the storm are still very much present. Meet Nichole. They have been their own recovery since Hurricane Harvey. They literally watched YouTube videos on how to muck out a house, viewed other videos on how to secure sheetrock on a wall properly, and used their network to hustle through the dubious contractor world, all with no assistance from FEMA, The City of Houston, or the GLO. Nicohle also wants to make sure the drainage issues on their Street ate properly addressed. The house is still not fully recovered and we are hoping we can help bring some support to the home through our disaster home repair program, and provide an avenue to advocate for better drainage infrastructure through the Northeast Action Collective.
