Last week I got lucky enough to check off a couple first timers on the list. @tight_lines638 happened to come to San Diego after delivering a long liner from Hawaii an he asked if there was any chance to catch a bluefin while he was here. @duanediego @michel_murciano was nice enough to let me barrow the #badbuggy to try an locate Kyle’s first bluefin for him an luckily the stars aligned an Kyle got to get an epic 100 lbs fish on the stick bait with an all time eat right next to the boat. Kyle is the definition of aloha spirit in my opinion an when I met him in Hawaii about five years ago on a salty crew trip he went above an beyond to show us what aloha spirit means an I’ve never forgotten how well they took care of us over there an also put me on my first Hawaiian ahi. Being able to reciprocate the aloha an get Kyle this fish is what it’s all about to me. Connecting with good people across the globe an sharing the stoke of the ocean an the food it provides us with. We are so blessed an I am so thankful for friends like Kyle. An all the rest of you out there of course! Two days later @duanediego called me up because he had a cancellation an asked if I just wanted to try an catch a yellow local. No yellows but instead I got surprised with my first ever seabass an I couldn’t possibly more stoked about it.
