When I was writing Tread I felt so tightly connected to the area where I wrote the album.⁣ ⁣ With shows being off through peak covid, The Old Kent Rd started to feel like such a home to me. I’d be in the studio for hours thinking so much about all the memories I’d had up and down that street. Weird parties, bus rides, B&Q trips etc. My Dad’s whole side of the family has such deep ties to the area too. Aside from the countless squat parties my Dad talks about, my Nan always tells me stories about the sweet factory on Old Kent Rd she worked at in her twenties. She’s 95 now!⁣ ⁣ The area really felt like it had a lot of significance to me while I was making Tread so I wanted to honour that in some way.⁣ ⁣ For those of you who know Old Kent Rd, you probably know about the Hellraiser VHS tapes that always turn up on the top of the bus stands down that road. It’s some cultural phenomenon that’s been going on for years. Look it up if you don’t know what I’m talking about. It’s kind of like an urban crop circle or something. ⁣ ⁣ I wanted to do something to pay homage to the area, so it felt fitting to chuck some copies of Tread up onto the bus stands in reference to the Hellraiser thing. ⁣ ⁣ Keep an eye out from the top of the 53.⁣ ⁣ I’m glad you’ve all been enjoying Tread. Thanks for all the interpretations of the Thresho recordings too, they’ve been incredible. Keep them coming! Link in my bio⁣ ⁣ 📹: @joshuaaronknox @lukebright_
