Allegory of Presence Recently got access to #dalle2 by @openaidalle and the past few days I’ve been working on this digital painting ~ learning photoshop/illustration software to collaborate iteratively with the ai I’m hoping this will form part of a larger series of allegorical works. Allegories appeal to me for their miserly efficiency in conveying meaning, without skimping on aesthetic impact. As a kind of visual essay, every aspect of the image conveys something and as with any good essay, succinctness demands that nothing is allowed to go to waste. The scene depicts a central dynamic within the Gnostic mythos, that between Sofia/Wisdom (left) and Nous/Mind (right), two Aeons/emanations of God/angelic beings. It’s also informed by elements of panpsychism and phenomenological thought on what constitutes presence - or reality itself.
