77% of women and girls in the United States have experienced sexual harassment in public places, according to a national survey by the UC San Diego Center on Gender Equity and Health. That is 77% too many. Our legislative package, called No Place For Hate, offers a novel approach to public safety that prioritizes education and prevention over criminalization when it comes to hate and harassment on streets and sidewalks, in public transit stations, or at retail stores.
