Alison by Lizzy Stewart 🎨 For synopsis please swipe ➡️ Baby’s first graphic novel! And OMG why didn’t anyone tell me how much I was missing out, and that adding STUNNING artwork to a book doesn’t mean it’s any less of a story?! Consider me sold. This really had everything - if you think that cover is beautiful just wait until you open it up and see the amazing drawings etc inside. I loved the way the author added so many different styles, colours and even interspersed the art with letters at points. But then there’s the story itself - so poignant and messy and moving in the best way. Alison doesn’t really seem to know herself when we first meet her, and it takes a couple of unsuitable/rushed relationships and one special friendship to really bring out her true self. I kinda loved that an arty novel like this also centred on the art world and had an artist at its heart. It’s without a doubt one of the most creative novels I’ve ever picked up, and I also found that the format meant I absolutely zipped through it. Oh, and it also just felt like the most gorgeous love letter to London and female friendship. Honestly, I could go on forever but instead how about you pick up a copy and feel smug about having a book that not only looks stunning on your shelves, but is an exquisite read too? All the smug points. #Alison is out now from @serpentstail and a huge thanks to the publisher for my gifted copy 🎨
