26.09.22 We’re so glad we could be part of the @strawbhillhouse Flower Festival this weekend. It was incredible to be surrounded by other florists and designers who share our passion for seasonality and sustainability. All the flowers used were grown by FFTF members and were an inspiring example of not only just how much there is available locally grown but such amazing varieties too. Everything was also made using sustainable mechanics, the ingenuity and resourcefulness was really inspiring too. Every single installation was different, we feel proud to have been showing amongst such a fantastic cohort of florists and growers from all across the country. Thanks again to @leigh.chappell.flowers, @jannelford and @flowersfromthefarm for having us.
Our design for the Beauclerk Closet was inspired by the current changing of the seasons seen in hedgerows all around (made all the more pronounced by the 2022 ‘false’ autumn occurring as a result of the recent droughts). Focusing on showcasing rosehip and clematis ́Old Mans Beard’, two ingredients that feel truly representative of the time of year, both stalwarts of autumnal floristry installations but not often given centre stage. Tumbling and clambering over a structure with mechanics partly exposed, which become as much of an important part of the design as the flowers. Our aim was to distil the feeling of the beauty and abundance of harvest whilst at the same time the delicacy and fragility of the cycles of nature. Our earth is precious.
So grateful to @thewildbackyard who captured it beautifully
