Meet the world’s biggest baby, the baby blue whale! San Diego seems to be a blue whale nursery this year, with 4 different cow-calf pairs being seen off our coast. These not so little whales are born about 23+ ft long and weigh about 6,000+ lbs. Relying solely on their mother’s milk for the first year, they put on an astounding 250lbs per day! While this calf is well into its first year of life - it still has a few important lessons to learn from mom before parting ways. When mom took a deep dive to feed on krill - the baby explored closer and closer to our boat! Our motors were completely off while this majestic munchkin did donuts around us!
