Welcoming another tree into our family! Bodhi Kai was born at home at 11:14 this morning, the Autumn Equinox, with just an hour heads up! The Bodhi tree, or the wisdom tree, is another sacred tree native to India, just like the banyan tree. Both belong in the fig family and scholars argue over which one the Buddha was said to have reached enlightenment under. Either way, we’ve now got it covered. 🌳☸️🕉 Thank you to my calm and gentle midwife @gbkhalsamidwife for coaxing this little guy down without any complications, and to my amazing doula @iamtero for his strong hands, words of encouragement, and for moaning along with me. (How cute are these beautiful Bodhi seed malas he got us to wear into battle 😂) And thank you to my mama for her fast birthing genes and for being the best relief pitcher for Banyan!! Feeling so immensely full of gratitude and joy 💖💫
