This guy isn’t my dad. This is Rod Davidson. He was the marketing director at the newspaper I was a graphic artist for in Billings, MT. He’s a fantastic, principled, mensch. He was, back then, my coworker, mentor, friend, confidant and anchor. I chose him to fill many of the roles I wished that my dad had been able to fill. I never had a comfortable relationship with my dad. I had a nearly impossible time talking to him and we both were silent and awkward around each other. I never figured out why. This is not to say my dad wasn’t loved and respected by me, he certainly was. But as I transitioned into a young man, I felt I was lacking a wiser more seasoned perspective to help me navigate my 20s. Rod has been such a fine force in so many peoples lives that I thought I’d wish him a happy Father’s Day!
