Over the last six years my non-profit has been conducting compassion in action initiatives in support of our mission to spread love throughout the world , alleviate depression and prevent suicide. Our Annual Day Of Love: Cupcakes and Conversation with Caroline and friends was developed in 2016 in an effort to spread love and facilitate meaningful conversations with the homeless community. There are many people who conduct acts of kindness for recognition or clout and we don’t ever want to be placed in that category. As such , for years, I have chosen to not widely share footage from our outreach efforts publicly. I now realize my lack of sharing and inability to ask for help is hurting my organization . For the first time in 5 years, I had to postpone our Annual Day of love because I could not afford the expenses on my own. I didn’t really think people cared to help me on LinkedIn. However sharing my transparency post last week showed me otherwise and was my first step in being brave enough to ask for help.
