If I could give 2021 Lauren a word of advice, I’d tell her, ‘it gets so much easier. I promise’. I’m a few weeks from hitting the one-year in therapy mark, and it’s so weird to think about the (shell of a) person I was this time last year. What was supposed to be the most magical time of my life (achieving one of my biggest career goals) was clouded by grief and heartbreak. This journey hasn’t been easy; there’s been tears on bathroom floors, moments I’ve struggled to get out of bed and serious concerns from my loved ones. But thankfully, I’m here a year on—thriving, content, and grateful. Whether you are at the beginning of your dark tunnel or making your way through and towards the light, I promise it gets easier. Lean on those you love, and ask for help when needed.
