Shade Spotlight: ENOUGH In this series, I feature a shade from the I AM eye palette and share the story behind the name. My intention is to show why I created this beautiful palette. Being “Enough”....wow, this is a BIG one. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve felt like I wasn’t good enough. Comparison is probably THE BIGGEST culprit behind this feeling. My thought pattern makes a beeline to “wow, I suck” when I start feeling less than those around me. Imposter syndrome is another one. I used to be a mechanical engineer and boy, did that industry make me feel stupid. Rejection has also played a big role: rejection from a job, rejection from a romantic partner, rejection from friends, or even feeling the rejection when I was picked last in school. Not only did these trigger feeling not good enough but also the follow up question: “What’s wrong with me?” But it goes deeper than that. Looking back, my feelings of not being good enough started with my parents in childhood. All these factors play into my mind trying to trick me into thinking that I am not good enough. And I’ve learned that this is simply NOT TRUE! We were all born good enough. We don’t have to try, we simply ARE! As an adult, I’m learning to re-parent myself and challenge the voice that wants to question my worth. I now understand when something doesn’t work out, it’s because life has another path for me. I’m coming to understand that I am enough even when I fail. I’m learning that I am deserving of the things I desire. I’m learning that I AM enough. I’d by lying if I said that this isn’t a challenge. It’s a constant struggle. But, I’m getting better. I feel like so many of us need this reminder everyday. So much so that I almost named the palette the “I AM ENOUGH” palette. I keep the I AM palette displayed on my desk and I have noticed the change in how I feel about myself by seeing this message daily. It reminds me that “Yes, I am enough, just the way I am”.
