HUGE NEWS: Last week, we welcomed 10 lambs and three alpacas to #TheGentleBarn Tennessee—our biggest intake of residents in a long time. The lambs are #hairsheep, a type of sheep typically bred for meat. At just under four months old, these 10 baby boys were headed for #slaughter, but we were able to intervene and offer them a life of peace, safety, and love instead. While our cofounder @jayweinervp was at the stockyard helping the #lambs, he saw three #alpacas wearing full coats in the 100 degree weather. Alpacas are very susceptible to heat stress, so even though he was there for the lambs, he knew that leaving these three behind was not an option. When our 13 new residents arrived at The Gentle Barn #Tennessee, the lambs all had crusty noses and some were coughing and sneezing. Two of them were limping, one with a swollen knee and the other with a swollen ankle. The alpacas were very anxious and afraid, and everyone had parasites and ticks. In the short time they've been in quarantine, we've already seen so much improvement, but they all have a long way to go before they're happy, healthy, and whole. Welcoming 13 animals at once is a major undertaking, and we need your support now more than ever. We're asking for your help to cover initial vet care for our new residents. You can donate at GentleBarn.org, via Venmo (@thegentlebarn), or via Cash App ($GentleBarn). We're only able to help animals like this because of YOU ❤️
