I saw a quote on an airport ad recently that read “Discover Your Story” . Our entire life is one big story and as much as we think we can control the flow, there are still circumstances that become massive plot twists. We meet heroes. And villains. We fall from grace. We strive for redemption. We overcome obstacles and we sometimes die trying. Chapter by chapter, our story unfolds for us and each page reveals the next part. . For example, think of when you met someone who may have impacted you. A best friend. A lover perhaps. Think about how once upon a time this person was a stranger - on an app, or in the right place at the right time before you bonded over some shared experience and the rest is history. Do you remember planning what you were going to say and do before it happened? Do you remember preparing for this life changing encounter? No, because you’re not a fortune teller and well, life is lived from the standpoint of faith - a belief in the next unseen moment. . Turning the page might look different at various points in life. Sometimes you’ll allow your story to unfold grippingly fast - kind of like when you would stay up late, losing sleep, your head stuck in a book that you couldn’t put down. Other times, your story will drawl, painstakingly slow and seemingly insignificant but you push through because you know there’s a juicy part coming and perhaps a great ending. . All that’s required of you is to keep living. Your story is the most important for you to discover because it’s the tale that will affect all the other stories you come in contact with. Your story affects how you see the world, how you live in it and how you interact with it - and you get to write those parts, your reactions and your intentionality, even when you haven’t designed the entire plot. . Why compare? No other story is like your own. Why worry about what’s next? A lot can change in a few lines or pages and all can be redeemed by the end of the book. It’s about participation - showing up, really feeling every moment, and engaging with it all; getting to end and realising it was all worth it - a story to be told! .
