And just like that, it’s over. . I was so honored to have been able to bring a show about love and togetherness to the world still suffering from a global pandemic. We didn’t care what the haters said. We played for fans, not critics. After all, they’re the ones who trashed Led Zeppelin, broke up Cream, and bummed out Dwayne Allman right before he died. If you didn’t like it, congrats you have bad taste. . In a script that is rich with some of the best dialogue ever written, I had the good fortune of saying some of the best lines in the whole book. My obvious favorite is “The only true currently in this bankrupt world is what we share with somebody else when we are uncool.” And that’s exactly what we did. We knew there were snobs who turned their nose up at us, who misunderstood (either from their own preconceived notions or someone else’s) exactly what was going on at the Jacobs 8 times a week. We didn’t care. . It galvanized our cast. It united us in our purpose. But it makes saying goodbye that much harder. This company of artists is the best I’ve ever had the honor of working with. I love them all, and always will. . But I’m better for having been a part of it. I’d like to give a heartfelt thank you to my beautiful cast mates, to SWINGWATER aka the best swings on Broadway, to the incredible crew who operated our show flawlessly for months led by @rachelsterner @dannymaly @williep2012 @imanikiona and @anthonyrigaglia, to the amazing ushers and front of house staff, particularly our the best house manager in the business @heidigiovine, to @cameronbcrowe and @tomkittmusic for the great gift of being entrusted to help tell their magical story to the world, and the fans who reminded us every day why telling this story at all was so important. . I hope we brought some joy to your life, even a small amount. Never forget: there’s always a place where the outsiders are insiders, one great song can change the course of history, the power of love can bring all lost souls together, embrace the parts of you that make you “uncool,” and sometimes it’s okay to make friends with the rockstars.
