Through the “Designers on Design” edition of his newspaper, Type of Today, Rand Rivera @randrivera (BAFA @parsons_cd + Screen Studies ‘24) provides comedic commentary on the idea of “embracing the weird” in design. The paper's loud and obstructive visual language and design critiques the various discourses on what contemporary design “should” look like. The paper includes Rand’s own writing as well as quotes from designers including Massimo Vignelli, Ed Benguiat, Beatrice Walde, and Paul Rand.
