📷⛰🩰💥 . Brand new work today, shooting on location for @profoto. Seriously! . Featured here is the amazing! talented! and not to mention hilarious! Principal Artist Ashley Shaw (@asharella14), shot on location, using the new #ProfotoA2. . LET’S TALK LIGHTING: When it comes to photography, I’m an environmental portraiture guy, and really, I like to use lighting to enhance what I already see (or what I’d *like* to see!!). Without additional lighting, Ashley would look amazing, sure, but adding in that little pop of flash from the A2 really lifts her off the page, and gives her the spotlight she deserves. I wanted her to really shine here because the location is so beautiful... to the point that it’s almost a little intimidating: how do you make sure that the focus is on Ashley, and she’s not dominated by this incrcedible place? It’s all in the lighting choices. . So! I’ve got a Profoto A2 on a stand camera left, almost 90 degrees to Ashley, on the back of a Clic Softbox. Normally I’d take a backplate to make it easy to Photoshop out, but I was travelling light and didn’t have a tripod - so framing-wise the light is sort of half in, half out of shot, and then obliterated with Content Aware Fill. Shot number two is a close up, getting nice and low, and getting that A2 as close as I can to Ashley without it creeping into shot. I love soft light, so when it’s only a smallish softbox, you’ve gotta get it super close to get the softness I like!! .
