Next up on our amazing cast is Nija Okoro!
Bronx native Nija Okoro is a Juilliard and LaGuardia HS (the Fame school) graduate. Nija recently completed the National Broadway Tour of August Wilson’s Jitney directed by the incomparable Ruben Santiago-Hudson. A lover of his work, Nija has also had the fortune of working on other Wilson plays including Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone both directed by Phylicia Rashad at the Taper in LA as well as Two Trains Running directed by Broadway legend Michele Shay. Other stage credits include the world premiere of Zoey’s Perfect Wedding (Denver Center) and The Legend of Georgia McBride (Geffen Playhouse) both written by Matthew López and directed by Mike Donahue. For her stage work Nija has received four LA Drama Critics Circle Awards and an Ovation award among others. She can currently be seen starring in the biopic about 1920’s Broadway star Charles Gilpin entitled The Black Emperor of Broadway. Some TV credits include Insecure, Monday Mornings, StartUp, The Deuce, Animal Kingdom and Southland. Up next, Nija will be in the world premiere of Dominique Morisseau’s Confederates at the Signature Theatre in NYC.
