I have been wearing @garmin since I got my first GPS watch when I started running in 8th grade. Every time my watch says “satellites located” I get excited to hit start. @garminrunning @garminwellness has been a part of every season of my running story, from the beginning before all of the injuries, before all of the “hard” when I was first falling in love with this sport, garmin was there for all the CRAZY fun of being an all American, foot locker national finalist, Gatorade player of the year, USA today inspiration award, college signings & more, but they were also there the first time I fell and my ankle felt like it was broken, the second time I fell & chronically ripped my hip cartilage, the times no doctors knew what was wrong & told me that there wasn’t much point in trying because it might never get better when my legs wouldn’t work after 1/2 mile of racing for over a year due to a rare vitamin deficiency, the time I tore my arch half a mile to the finish line at my only healthy college race about to PR for the first time in 5 years since all the injuries had started... all the boots, all the crutches, all the cross training, all the tears, all the prayers... my watch was always waiting for me to pick it back up when I was good to go. God has done so much in my life and my heart and my character through running and the significant hardships He has allowed throughout my story, I don’t always want the hardships when they happen, but I always want the “better” that they create in me. I stopped comparing stories a long time ago because I learned that I didn’t actually want anyone else’s no matter how much easier it looked or “better” in the world’s eyes. I have surrendered running in the sense of making it my identity, but I truly feel God’s pleasure when I run and know He will forever use this sport in my life to glorify Him. I will never fully understand my journey, why it can’t be easier and I can’t just be healthy, but I am thankful for the story God is writing regardless because I trust it’s good.
