✨Citizen Science Month 🔬🤿 ​ Say G'day to Ben Hales, owner and director of Queensland Marine Support company @north_marine_ 👋 ​ Ben and the team at @north_marine_ have been long standing supporters of Citizens, so as you can imagine, they were dedicated #CitizenScientists during the in-water Great Reef Census surveys! ​ Travelling large expanses of the Great Barrier Reef, @north_marine_'s charter vessels (workboat 'Viking' and tugboat 'Gulf Explorer') captured survey images from as far and wide as Lizard Island in the north to Wheeler Reef off the coast of Townsville in the south. ​ @north_marine_ is the first commercial marine company to participate in the #GreatReefCensus. Ben and his crew's work is an inspiring example of how different marine industries can participate in a collaborative effort to protect and conserve the Great Barrier Reef. ​ ​​​The Great Reef Census is a Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef project in partnership with @uniofqld, @gbrmarinepark, @australianmarinescience and @jamescookuniversity. It is funded by the partnership between the Australian Government’s #ReefTrust and @Greatbarrierreeffoundation, @priorfoundation, @cottononfoundation, @rrrc_reef_and_rainforest and the Australian Government’s National Environmental Science Program.
