The murder of a young woman in South Korea earlier this month has led to widespread anger after it highlighted weaknesses in the country’s stalking laws. The 28-year-old had been working at a Seoul subway station when she was stabbed to death. Her alleged attacker had been stalking her for years, and was due to be sentenced the next day. The government has since made promises to strengthen the law to protect victims. But the case has led to accusations the country doesn’t treat violence against women seriously enough. “People talk about how South Korea is a safe place, but as a woman in my twenties I can't relate to this at all, I feel I live in a very dangerous society," one woman said.
