Coming in hot for this week's #FollowFriday, Portland, OR-based photographer @kevin.horstmann gives us a rundown on slowing things down and tapping into those slow moments that are life-changing. Read on to learn of Kevin’s approach to film photography then give the guy a follow while you’re at it. His work is stunning.
“There’s really no better way for me to capture a moment, while experiencing that moment, then on film. I feel like when I take a photo with film, it instantly makes that moment more meaningful and lasting to me. It’s the extra bit of intention that goes into the photo, feeling emotionally drawn to that scene, that moment, the light, and making sure you’re getting it right then & there. That’s something that film naturally just brings out of me.
"I really try to focus on enjoying life’s ‘slow moments’—the moments that matter, that you want to last. It’s something I’ve found in life and it’s something I think film photography helps me tap into. And plus, I just love film for its colors (shoutout Portra 800), the way it renders light, the imperfections, all of it. It’s just my go-to way of capturing the beauty in the world and life’s moments.”
