Did you know? All four Mel’s Drive-In locations in Southern California are housed in historic buildings 🌆Our Sunset Boulevard location was built as Ben Frank’s in 1962, a googie style building that was designed by Lane & Schlick. This building is one of the last remaining “Googie” style buildings in Southern California. 🤩Design and building in 1935 by S. Charles Lee, our Hollywood location resides in a portion of the former Max Factor makeup studio and is a stone’s throw away from Hollywood theatres and attractions. ☕️In 1953 the Kerry’s coffee shop was designed and built by Armet & Davis. Years later, it now houses our Sherman Oaks location and is a favorite among locals. 🐧Also designed by Armet & Davis was a googie style building formerly known as the Penguin in 1958 where you can find our Santa Monica location and the end of the historic Route 66. #mels #melsdrivein #50s #vintage #losangeles #oldschool #nostalgia #history
