Over the past few weeks I’ve been experimenting with cutting things horizontally that I normally would cut vertically, trying to wrap my head around the differences you’ll see by altering the angle of the section. It’s very subtle, but I’ve been seeing a lot more sort of “built in” movement coming out this way in places where I used to get a wall of hair that required styling in order to move. It’s also made it a lot easier to build up weight where I want to, not because horizontal is better or easier than vertical, but because picturing what I would do vertically and approaching it horizontally gives me a clearer picture from another perspective of what’s actually happening there. It’s like flipping the puzzle upside down to focus on the shapes of the pieces instead of the big picture.
