Today we're feeling thankful for all the wonderful people working alongside NBK Parks to create more public space in Greenpoint & Williamsburg—including the volunteer organizers for Banker's Anchor (@bankersanchor), Bedford Slip (@bedfordslip), and #BerryOpenStreet (@nbkopenstreets)! Earlier this month, this exact trio of Open Streets combined forces to present the first-ever North Brooklyn Open Streets Turkey Trot 🦃 It was a beautiful day and a ton of fun for everyone involved. Participants of all ages completed a scavenger hunt connecting Bedford Slip, Banker's Anchor, and Berry Open Street and were rewarded with a pizza party and fabulous prizes! Shout out to @transportationalternatives and @openplansnyc for event support and to the honorable team of Turkey Trot judges—Kathy Park Price and Juan Serra of @nbk_ta and @lisabloodgood. A huge thank you to the local businesses that contributed prizes: @vitalbrooklyn, @thelotradio, @tiredthrift, @awokevintagebrooklyn, @blackseedbagels, & @caffevalencia and those that offered discounts to Turkey Trot participants: @thesillwilliamsburg, @formapasta, & @wasabigreenpoint. Thanks as well to Shalom Catholic Community (@shalomnewyork) for their wonderful event at Banker's Anchor that same day with free enjoyment for all including a clothing-giveaway, hearty food (seriously the best lasagna ever), and live music.
