As a parent, a filmmaker, and a professor - it’s so hard to find time to write. Like really write. Doing any kind of residency usually feels off the table. Too decadent. Too complicated. Too much guilt for leaving home. This summer I spent two weeks @marblehouseproject for a family residency. There are so few opportunities out there like this one. It was idyllic, productive, and restorative. I worked for 7 hours a day, while my child swam in quarries, chased frogs, and worked on art projects in a big old barn. Extremely grateful for those two weeks and the supportive people who organized the program. If only real life was this simple and perfect.
