My new piece, ETHEREAL SHRED, debuts tomorrow night at a cool new secret gallery hidden inside a Times Square subway station, @publicworks_nyc . ETHEREAL SHRED is a liquid painting that I’ve been working on for over two years (2nd slide is a studio shot, for reference of the set-up). It’s a photograph which was then meticulously liquified, warped, melted, and bent in Photoshop and After Effects. While I was painting this piece I was contemplating the dimensionality and cosmology of reality. I was out here pixel-blending blacks into neon reflexxxions & my mind kept going into the physics of black holes and supernovae... expansions and refractions, quantum holography... the ultra dynamic physics of this insane universe that we appear to exist within... mixed in with the Vedic concept of MĀYĀ— the illusion of the material world which blocks us from intuiting the soul. Transdimensional consciousness... the sacred geometrixxx of my the electromagnetic spectrum ! Psychedelic Metempsychosis!!! 🦋 I see these paintings as extensions of the ever-present muse which has burnt through my work since day 1: Questioning reality, and the nature of nature, and what it means to be “real” in this dimension of perception. Tomorrow’s exhibition is entitled LOWLINE, a tribute to the underground garden that was planned to be developed in NYC, but never came to fruition. The opening is at @publicworks_nyc from 7PM - 12 AM, +++ a bunch of sexxi hott deejays will be laying down a porty for the crew too.
