Objects of Permanence For their 50th anniversary celebration, Nike asked me to tell a New York story. For 15 years I’ve been in the footwear industry in some capacity and it’s a dream to talk about the style I grew up around. It’s an honor to have pieces of my history take space next to a rich celebration of the history of this brand, in a legendary room in Soho. I am surrounded by so much beauty in this city and I will always try to hold up a mirror to that. From my community comes a universal lesson about standing firmly in the world, and preserving. I show that I place value on these items that I called “Objects of Permanence” so you can look at your own and do the same. There’s so much I can say here but I am ready to stop talking and get back into research, into travel and new work and strengthening the hands that got me here in the first place.
